Legal technology company Estatesearch is raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society, aiming to complete a charity challenge walk of five million steps in six weeks, which is the distance between Estatesearch’s Newmarket, Burgess Hill and Toronto offices.
Jonathan Upton, CEO, Estatesearch explains: “As an organisation and one of the founders of the Vulnerable Banking Group, much of our work is about helping to protect vulnerable people. Our entire team completed Dementia Friends Training, which is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative, earlier this year and this inspired us to choose this important charity for our challenge.”
Mandy Hawkins, Operations Manager, Estatesearch confirmed: “I had no personal experience with Dementia until my mum was diagnosed, therefore, I found the Dementia Friends training invaluable. It also offered insight into just how many people and families are affected and who live with Dementia on a daily basis. As a team, the training has meant we can better support our legal clients who often work closely with those affected and their families.
“We will use the ‘Big Challenge App’ to record our steps and as part of the fun, Estatesearch will be split into two teams of 20 people: the Scrambled Legs and Chafing the Dream. I’m sure many of us will also be proudly wearing our famous Estatesearch branded socks to clock up the miles and raise funds for this deserving cause!”
According to https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/, one in three people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime and 1.4 million people are expected to be living with dementia by 2040. The Alzheimer’s Society funds research, provides support and campaigns for change with one unifying purpose: to stop dementia devastating lives.
