By Jonathan Upton, Director, Estatesearch
At Estatesearch we come across many organisations and people who have dedicated their time to supporting those who have lost loved ones. I was recently introduced to Tracey and Amanda at whiteballoon through a mutual contact and was impressed with the gentle central space they have created. Their website is a rich, free resource designed to help people navigate processes and make decisions about how they would like to honour their loved one’s life and access bereavement support during a difficult time
The website is divided into sections covering planning a funeral, inspiration, bereavement support, planning ahead of time and a trusted provider directory. I particularly like the inspiration area which is a creative section with examples of music, poetry and prayer. You can even listen to samples of music and earmark music you like with a heart icon, so they are saved to your ideas folder.
When I chatted to Tracey and Amanda they explained they had also been keen to create a platform for businesses within this important field, often small artisan companies, who are dedicated to helping people through a difficult time. whiteballoon’s provider directory shines a light on these trusted suppliers, offering essential bereavement support options that can really help people trying to make plans while they are grieving. There are also articles from suppliers so visitors can read about the people behind the services offered and see if their approach is right for them and their families.
The whole website is designed in an accessible easy to process, visual way so it’s light and gentle to look at which is a refreshing approach. Tracey and Amanda said they have tried to think of everything someone might need to inform and allow them to make empowered decisions after a loved one has passed away in order to honour their friend or relative’s life and they have certainly achieved this.
